7th Grade Bronx Zoo Trip (with video that will eventually load!)
BY JULIAN BRUNO, THE TUSKER TRIBUNE
Recently, the 7th graders went on a field trip to the Bronx Zoo. From the response we got, they had a great time! They saw an assortment of animals, including but not limited to gorillas, flamingoes, lions, monkeys, and red pandas! There were many peafowl wandering around the zoo, which kids were told not to touch and pluck at, but they did anyway.
As usual, the lions were inactive. The males can sleep 16-20 hours a day! However, the always-sleeping red pandas were up and moving about, which is a rare sight. The students were lucky they got to see that.
In the Congo Gorilla Forest, the Gorillas were climbing about the trees. They had most likely just been fed; they had lettuce leaves in their hands. The Bronx Zoo is right in the middle of a thriving community, so it’s amazing how such amazing life can take up residence there. The zoo spans 265 acres. Overall, the students had a great time!
