Early November marked National French Week and the students in the Somers High School French Club shared their love of all-things-French with celebrations of food, trivia, art, and more.
Students in French classes competed against each other in Francophone Trivia Contests. Students John Raducanu, Evan Aronoff, Katie Cole and Aaden Mercado won the school competition answering questions on French architecture, sports, culture and more.
During French Week, SHS also launched the first school-wide Art Imitates Art contest. Students were asked to re-create art by famous French artists Georges Seurat, Rosa Bonheur, Paul Gauguin, and Rose-Marie Desruisseau. Winning artists were French language students Emma Sherman, Anthony Fusco, Mia Matsumura-Plugh, and Anna Hagen and their re-creations are on display at the high school.
Students also held an afterschool screening of the French film “Les Invités de mon Père.” The French Club invited all SHS students to watch the film that had English subtitles.
National French Week wrapped up, but the French Club also hosted World Cup Watch parties during community lunch and after school. À bientôt!
