  • Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Middle school students are celebrating Hispanic Heritage month. Seventh- and eighth-graders with Mrs. Gottlieb, Ms. Pate, Mrs. Pepe and Mrs. Soares researched an important Hispanic American and created a poster to celebrate his/her contributions to both the United States and the Hispanic community. In their projects the students also tied in the Middle Years Program learner profiles and talked about what attribute their person exemplified and why.

  • Write on!

Local author Joe Wallace visited eighth grade English Language Arts students to kick off the first step of developing ideas for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in November. Students of Ms. Baldes, Mrs. Hayden and Mrs. Shilinski learned the importance of writing “the novel they want to write,” loving their characters, figuring out where their stories will go, and how they will end. Mr. Wallace spent time conferring with individual students, helping them develop their ideas, and providing inspiration and encouragement.
