Joe Berlinger, a long-time resident of Somers and former Tusker parent, is also an acclaimed documentary filmmaker. Somers High School Criminology Club recently invited him to speak to students about his work and the crimes that were the focus of his documentaries

A former student became the instructor for Somers Central School District art teachers in a recent day-long workshop. For the March 7 professional learning day, the educators visited the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Conn., where Antonio Paone, a 2015 graduate of Somers High School, serves as education assistant. Paone helped lead the activities for the Somers teachers.

Somers High School track and field athlete Charles Sullivan became the district’s first weight throw state champion on Saturday when he flung the 25-pound weight 73 feet, 9.25 inches – and into the record books.

Somers Middle School Drama Club is preparing to bring to life the classic Roald Dahl story Matilda, about a brilliant, book-loving, five-year-old girl who is also, at one point, a little bit magical.
