I am so excited to welcome you to SIS! I am looking forward to the start of the school year, as I am sure that you are as well.
I am new to the SIS family and building as well. I have been teaching at the high school level for 26 years. The last 16 years, I have been teaching here at Somers High School. I had the most amazing experience, teaching most of your children in the ESY program for the summers of 2021 and 2022. I am excited to be teaching and learning with your child this year.
Our classroom will be a place of community, where we will all be working on creating and maintaining a learning environment that we will all, will be able to learn in. We will learn skills that will support us all to become lifelong learners. Our classroom is a safe and comfortable room, that encourages a positive self and community.
The first day of school, is right around the corner. I wanted to take this opportunity to make sure we are all prepared for success on the first day. A checklist of specific supplies has been attached. These items will help support our success as learners. Please send these supplies in with your child on the first day of school. We will start using them right away. During the first few days of school, your child will bring home, important Welcome Back information that you should read, together with your child.
I look forward to meeting and seeing you all again at the Open House on September 7th. This evening is an opportunity for you to meet me and to ask further questions about academic expectations, homework and/ or behavior policies. I can’t wait to see all of you there!
I would love to get to know your child as much as I am able to both in class and outside of the school learning environment. It would be so helpful to me, if you would fill out the “Tell Me More About YOUR Child” letter that is attached. This gives you the opportunity to share any additional information about your child that you would like me to know. Please complete this and send it in with your child on the first day of school.
I am also attaching a letter to your child so that they can learn more about me! I would love to have them write me back on the “Tell Me More About YOU,” letter. They can decide to write or draw a picture. I can’t wait to learn about them!
This will be an exciting and memorable year. I look forward to working with you and your children. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I will see you all in September.

Dear Ms. Reimer,
*Please send this letter in with your child on the first day of school!
Thank you! **
Welcome to Somers Intermediate School! My name is Ms. Reimer and I am so very excited to be teaching and learning with you this year. I hope you are having a great summer.
I would love to share some interesting things about me, so we can get to know each other. I have been teaching high school for a long time. When I was told that I would be the new 3rd grade SCIP teacher, I was so happy. I taught ESY in the summer of 2021 and 2022 and I may have been your teacher. I had so much fun when I taught ESY. We did schoolwork in math, reading and writing and we played outside on the playground and in the gym. Do you remember if I was your teacher?
I have two teenage boys and have been enjoying the summer with them. We love to hike, swim and play board games. Zachary is 16 years old, and Jacob is 14 years old. What did you do this summer? Do you have brothers or sisters?
I am looking forward to learning more about you. Please write me a letter and tell me what you like to do. You can also draw me a picture if you would like. I can’t wait to see you in September!! Enjoy the rest of your summer.
