• Miss Vetterman Welcome Letter 23-24

    Summer 2023

    Dear Third Grader,

It is so hard to believe that the summer is ending and school is going to be starting soon. I hope you spent your summer doing all your heart desired and that you feel rested and excited for our year to begin at SIS! Some of you may be nervous to be starting at a new school, but I promise you are going to love it here! Our classroom will become your new home away from home and our class will become like a little family. We have so many exciting lessons to learn this year and a lot of fun to be had.

I cannot wait to meet each of you and learn all about the amazing individuals you are. The first few days of school will be spent getting to know each other. For one of our first activities, I would like you to bring in your favorite photo of you and your family. We will share these photos with each other and then display them on our “kitchen fridge” bulletin board.

I sent you a supply list that shows you all the items you will need for school.  There are a few additional items that were not included on the Third Grade Supply List. One of the items on the list is an “independent reading book”.  This should be a book of your choice and will be used for some of our reading work in the first days of school as we get to know you as a reader. I am also asking for a small towel or blanket that you can use to sit on when we work outside.  Please be sure to bring a healthy snack and water to school each day as well. It can be chilly in our classrooms so you may want to keep a sweatshirt in your bag.

I hope you are just as excited as I am for this year to start! Now, put this letter down and go enjoy the rest of your summer. Go swimming, play outside, eat some ice cream or other sweet treats and be ready to work when school starts. I will see you all soon!

    Your Teacher,

    Miss Vetterman
