Welcome to Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Haber-Cohen's Class!
Dear 4th Grader,
Hi! Welcome to the 4th grade! Can you believe that the first day of school is almost here? We hope you are having a wonderful summer. Even though summer vacation is the best, we are getting excited to go back to school and meet all of you, our new fourth grade class!
We have been busy getting lessons and activities ready for this school year. We are going to have a busy and productive year. Fourth grade is a lot of fun because you learn about many interesting subjects. This year you will learn multiplication, long division, decimals and fractions in math. In social studies we learn about New York, the Native Americans, the colonists and the Revolutionary War and the N.Y government. In science we conduct experiments to help us learn about the digestive tract, simple machines and rocks and minerals. And of course, we do lots of reading and writing in fourth grade. There are also a few class trips to reinforce our curriculum. We know you will love the fourth grade.
On the first day of school please bring in a picture of yourself that shows something you did in New York State that was fun or special this summer. In addition, please bring in a small picture of yourself (2” by 2”) that we can hang up on a bulletin board.
Make sure to check the 4th grade supply list. Additional school supplies that will be needed in our class are;
1. 3 black and white notebooks
2. Pencil bag. (soft)
3. Sock or eraser for white boards
4. 5 Folders: red, blue, yellow, purple, green, orange
5. Box of 24 crayons
Have a great rest of the summer and we are excited to meet you in a few weeks!
