• Dear First Grade Families,

Welcome to First Grade! We are very excited to get to know your child and work with you to ensure a successful and memorable school year.  This year your child is going to be in a class with two teachers, Ms. Julianna Hatjygeorge and Ms. Sam Berg!

    Message from Ms. Hatjygeorge

This will be my first year at Primrose Elementary and I am so excited to be teaching here!  I have spent the past 6 years teaching in a public elementary school on the upper east side of Manhattan and I have spent the past 7 summers teaching in a private school for children on the autism spectrum.  Teaching young children has been such a rewarding experience for me. I am thrilled to be back in Westchester County where I was born and raised just next door in Yorktown. I have been having a great summer with my family spending lots of time at the beach on Long Island.  And- I just became an “Aunt” this month upon welcoming a new baby girl into our family! I am very excited to meet your children and begin an exciting year of learning.

    Message from Ms. Berg

This is my second year as a first-grade teacher at Primrose. I am very excited to get to know you and your child. I have been teaching public school for the past 7 years and I am passionate about fostering a life-long love of learning. I have had a very busy summer as I prepared to welcome my second son in early September. My 2-year old son Bennett and dog Barnaby are very excited to meet their baby brother (my husband and I are too). I am eager to meet all of the students the first week of school and then will be out on maternity leave for the first part of the year. I will be back and eager to make connections with each student and also ensure that they will be successful in their first-grade year.

During the first weeks of school, we will spend time getting to know each other and building a classroom community.  We will be sending home more information about schedules and expectations for the upcoming school year. Your support is critical to the success of your child.  We look forward to getting to know your child and you and together explore new and exciting topics this school year!

During Ms. Berg’s maternity leave, we are very happy to welcome, Mrs. Patricia Ravert, as the special education leave replacement for Ms. Berg. We are also excited to have Ms. Valerie Marrato as our full-time teaching assistant for the school year!

On the first day of school, please pack a “nut free” snack for your child.

We cannot wait to meet you and begin a wonderful school year!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Julianna Hatjygeorge

    Ms. Sam Berg
