Welcome to Mrs. Tetro's Class!
Please browse this site for important information and dates.August 2018Dear Kindergarten Family,It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I welcome you and your child to Kindergarten! I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year. My focus this year will be to build your child’s self-esteem, social skills, and independence, as well as promote his/her academic abilities. I hope that you have had a chance to enjoy all that summer has to offer. I had the pleasure of spending a few weeks, with my family, in a small town in the Thousand Islands. We relaxed while boating, fishing and swimming in the Saint Lawrence River. My son, Joshua, who is now a driver, enjoyed alternating between driving the boat and the car while my other son, Matthew spent many long summer days fishing and tubing in the river. My husband, Erik, enjoyed our early morning walks beside the river and I relished quiet time with a good book on the front porch. I hope your final weeks of summer bring you memorable times with your family and friends. Mrs. Donna Peters is my aide and she will be an important person in your child’s life at school. She will assist me in the classroom most of the day and will accompany the children to lunch and recess. We would love to meet you and your child before school begins. We will be in the classroom from 9:00 – 10:00 on Tuesday, August 28th. This is a great opportunity for the children to meet their teachers and classmates and explore the classroom. This opportunity may help your child feel more comfortable on the first day of school. I look forward to meeting you!Place any notes you have for the office or me inside the folder. Also please check and empty out your child’s folder every day. Your child will be eating lunch in the cafeteria on the first day of school. Please have your child bring a lunch to school for the first few days. We will have snack each morning starting the first day of school. Please pack a healthy, nourishing snack and drink. I also need to inform you that there are a few children in our class that have severe food allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. I am asking for your cooperation because a life-threatening allergic reaction can result from either ingestion or contact with the food allergen. Please do not send your child with a peanut or tree nut snack or a snack with a peanut product. This would also apply to any special snack that your child would provide for a class activity. You may provide a lunch containing these products. The cafeteria provides a more controlled environment because of the use of nut-free tables. I appreciate your assistance in creating a classroom environment that is comfortable for all children. Somers School District is paperless and most notes and notices are posted on the website or sent electronically via email. Please visit my website to find useful information. You will find my website when you visit http://www.somersschools.org/primrosees When you log in at this site you will find Classroom Websites at the middle toolbar (when you are in full-screen mode). You can click on the link to Mrs. Tetro’s class website. I will be screening Kindergarten students on September 5th, 6th, and 7th. You will find your child’s screening appointment in the Welcome Letters tab on my website. We will have the Kindergarten Open House on Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00 pm. This will provide an opportunity to share more information about our classroom and Primrose. I look forward to meeting and working with you this year. I know that by working together we will make this a great year for your child.Fondly, Jennifer Tetro
