• Welcome to Kindergarten!

    Mrs. Gaudio with Mrs. Kupferschmid

    August 2018

    Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that the summer is almost over…the big day is almost here...the first day of Kindergarten! I hope that you and your family have enjoyed the summer, and are looking forward, as I am, to our upcoming school year together.

My name is Robin Gaudio, and I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year.  I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share this year with you and your child!  We also have a wonderful Teaching Assistant, Mrs. Anne Kupferschmid, who will also be an important part of your child’s year! Together, we will help your child grow in many different ways.

Starting school can often be a big transition for children.  I understand that each child will be coming to school with a mix of different emotions…excitement, nervousness, sadness, happiness, anxiousness and more! Being sensitive to this is so important, and we’ll be doing lots of fun activities that will help your child acclimate to Kindergarten, and start the year off right.  I am confident that by working together we will have a tremendously successful year!

To make the transition to Kindergarten easier, I invite you and your child to join me at our Kindergarten Meet and Greet!

On Wednesday, August 29th  at 3 pm, your child will have the opportunity to meet us and see our classroom with you.  Your child will meet some of our classmates and become familiar with Primrose and a few of our classroom routines.  I look forward to seeing you on that day, and to helping ease any apprehension your child may have about coming to Kindergarten.

The first three days of school will be HALF DAYS for Kindergarten students.  Please check the site for your individual screening appointment.

Please take a few moments to read through our Kindergarten supply list at the end of this letter- there are some minor changes to the general Kindergarten list. On the first day of school, please send your child to school with a backpack, the folder that I’ll give you at orientation, and a healthy snack.  Please bring the other supplies, in a bag labeled with your child’s name, with you when you come to our Orientation day, Open House on September 5 (7 pm), or to your child’s individual screening appointment.  There is no need to label every item in the bag (only the headphones, please), as most will be used as community supplies.

Thank you, in advance, for respecting that we are a PEANUT and NUT-FREE CLASSROOM, due to several life threatening allergies.  Please do not send in any products for SNACK that contain (or "may contain") peanuts or nuts.  It is fine to send in nuts/peanuts with your child's lunch, as we eat that in the cafeteria.  I will send out more guidelines for birthday parties and celebrations so that every child may participate in the treat!

Enjoy the rest of the summer, and I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year!  I hope to see you on our Meet and Greet day, on August 29th.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me through email: rmgaudio@somersschools.org
