Academic Support Center
Welcome to the Academic Support Center. Students who are scheduled for a period in the Support Center generally come every other day. Students may also "drop-in" to get the help they need. This is a place for them to get the help they need in reading, writing, organizational skills, math or world languages. There is an ELA/Study Skill portion of our center, a Math portion, a World Language portion, a Social Studies portion and an English portion.
The Academic Support Center is available every period for every student on a “drop-in” basis for any subject; this is contingent upon space available during that particular period. Students can “drop-in” during lunch or any of their Study Halls.
Students who are scheduled for ELA support are given direct instruction in reading skills that will help them glean the main idea and supporting details from texts. Care will be taken to help them be successful in the content area subjects. Students can share an assignment they have been given and we can work together on an approach that will lead to greater comprehension and success.
Students who are in here for study and organizational skills will be given the support necessary to help them with assignments. Sometimes a student just needs help with basic organization while at other times they need assistance with planning a writing assignment.
Math support is available almost every period for students who are scheduled into the Success Center. Students may also choose to "drop-in" throughout the day. Language support is available in the Support Center for those students who are either scheduled or who wish to "drop-in" for six periods a day. Students can also be assigned or "drop-in" for English four periods a day. Social Studies teachers are available for help three periods a day. Again, students may be assigned or visit as "drop-ins".
