Welcome to ELA 7! My goal is to help you, my students, achieve grade level competency in English/language arts through a combination of independent reading, assigned reading, and various writing activities.

We'll be doing close reading, narrative writing, argument, poetry, and text analysis, along with a bunch of in-class discussions. We'll also work with online notebooks, and engage in group or paired activity.

Even if you're not a big fan of reading, I hope I can convince you that reading is a vital real-life skill that will help you make great strides in the future. And, even if you're not a big fan of writing, I hope I can convince you that decent writing skills do wonders for making you look and sound intelligent and worldly. (And good writing makes people think you're really really smart.)

It will be messy at times, and you certainly will get dirty. But when all is said and done, you'll emerge from the primordial ooze of ELA 7, clean yourself off, and realize that, OMG, you really really DID LEARN SOMETHING THIS YEAR!!!!!
