Community Updates
June 26, 2026
Dear Somers Families & Community,
As you may be aware, the first of three phases of our Capital Project is scheduled to begin next week, with completion of key projects planned ahead of the 2026–2027 school year. This phase will bring several exciting upgrades to some of our instructional spaces, athletic facilities, playgrounds and campuses.
Below is an overview of the construction at each school, the affected areas and their limited availability during the summer, beginning on Monday, June 29. Please note that construction timelines may shift as projects progress. As construction gets underway, certain areas will be temporarily closed or have limited access to ensure the safety of our students, staff and community.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as we invest in improvements that will benefit everyone for years to come. Please note that additional Phase I projects will take place after this summer, and we will update you once those are underway.
Somers High School (SHS): The entire track surface will be replaced on Turf 1, along with new LED lighting. On Turf 2, prep work will take place for new LED lighting. The fire alarm system will also be upgraded. Lastly, the majority of the SHS parking lot will be repaved, along with new directional signage and striping.
Summer Access:
- Turf 1/Track – Closed
- Turf 2 – Open for school and approved youth organizations only
