Website Accessibility Statement

The Somers Central School District aims to ensure that the information on our website is accessible to individuals with visual, hearing, or cognitive disabilities.

What are we doing?

We are making good faith efforts to comply with:

  • New York State standards on website accessibility: (New York State OFT Policy, P04-002, Accessibility of State Agency Web-based Intranet and Internet Information and Applications)
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0: Established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)

Our site is regularly reviewed, and we modify any pages found to have accessibility issues.

  • HTML Format: The majority of pages on our site are available in HTML format, which can be deciphered by screen readers.
  • PDF Format: Some documents are in Adobe PDF format, which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download it for free from the Adobe website.

In line with Somers Central School's commitment to accessibility, we have implemented a state-of-the-art Web Accessibility solution called AudioEye. The AudioEye toolbar ensures that our websites are optimized to provide an accessible experience, adhering to WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines. Additionally, AudioEye technology features a toolbar with a suite of free assistive web personalization utilities, enabling users to customize their experience to meet their individual needs. Click here to learn more about AudioEye.
