    SEPTA Coffee and Conversation

    Thursday, May 11th at 10:00 A.M.

You are cordially invited to a SEPTA parent coffee and conversation, which will be held at SMS. Dr. Blanch and Stacey Elconin have requested to join us for our last coffee of the year! Join us for a casual conversation and a chance to meet and support other parents in the district through discussion and sharing of ideas. Your child does not need to currently be receiving support services for you to attend. Other parents are our best resources, so come meet some of them and tap into this breadth of knowledge and experience!

Please RSVP to rsvpforsepta@gmail.com to be kept up-to-date with any location or time changes.

We look forward to meeting you!

SEPTA Annual Meeting with Special Guest,
Board Certified Art Therapist, Lynn CukajATR-BC
May 9th at 7:30 PM in the SMS Library

SEPTA's Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 9th from 7:30 - 9:00 PM in the Somers Middle School library. In addition to electing a new slate of officers and voting on the 2023-2024 budget, we will welcome Board Certified Art Therapist Lynn Cukaj, ATR-BC who will lead a relaxing art activity after the business portion of the meeting. (Lynn to start by 8:15 PM)

Lynn Cukaj is an art therapist, educator, and counselor. She works primarily with children to help them gain insight into their strengths. Those strengths are then supported to help with the presenting problem, friendship issues, identification and regulation of feelings, communication skills, etc. This process is done by using art or talking, whichever is more comfortable for the child. Her way of working is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where the client can feel at ease to begin exploring their personal roadblocks. Oftentimes, it is what is not being said that becomes the focus of the session. The artwork becomes the voice of the client and interventions are built around that experience. The focus is on client strength, unconditional positive regard, and a non-judgmental approach. This allows for clients to go on to live a life filled with joy and hope with tools and coping skills to better navigate the ups and downs of everyday life.

If you'd like to attend the SEPTA Annual meeting, please send an email to rsvpforsepta@gmail.com. All are welcome!
