    SOCIAL STUDIES

Through our social studies program, students explore basic concepts related to both ancient and current communities throughout the world, the history of New York State, and the early history of our nation. Units of study focus on “essential questions."  These questions emphasize the economic, social and political influences people have on one another and how those values influence how their wants and needs are met.  Classroom instruction emphasizes depth of understanding of important ideas and concepts.  Many of the writing skills taught during ELA time are further fostered in the Social Studies content area.
