Dear Third Grader,
We hope that you are having a great summer. Hopefully right now you are relaxing by the pool or sitting on the beach. Soon summer will be ending, and it will be time to start looking forward to an exciting new school year. We have been very busy here at SIS preparing our classroom. We will be trying our best to have fun all year long, while learning as much as we possibly can! There are many great things planned for reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
So not only will you get to come to a new school, but you will also meet a whole bunch of new friends and teachers. I am excited too as I am moving back to teaching Third Grade. I started here at SIS man years ago teaching Third Grade, and then moved to Fifth Grade for many years. So, I am excited for a new opportunity and getting to know and work with all of you!
We sent you a supply list that shows you all the items you will need for school. One of the items on the list is an “independent reading book”. This should be a book of your choice and will be used for some of our reading work in the first days of school as we get to know you as a reader. A chapter book would be great! We are also asking for a small towel or blanket that you can use to sit on when we work outside. Please be sure to bring a healthy snack and water to school each day as well.
We hope that you are just as excited as we are for this year to begin. We can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you. For now, please put down this letter, and go have some more summer fun! Be ready to work hard! We will see you soon!
