• Dear Families,

Welcome to the new school year! A wonderful year lies ahead of your child. My focus this year will be to build your child’s self-esteem, social skills and independence as well as promote his/ her academic performance.

Ms. Ryan and Ms. Merille are the teaching assistants for our class. They are very important members in assisting in the success of our program. There will share responsibilities such as: small group / individual remediation, center-based learning, inclusion support, lunch/ recess help and much much more. Ms. Pepe and Ms. Breslin are also teaching professionals who will work with students and provide support to children in the classroom and are important members to the tea,

This year we will be partnering with Ms. Hannon and Ms. Kegler’s classes. We are looking forward to these partnerships. Please consult each teacher’s website, the supplies below will be split between each of our classes.

In preparation for the school year, below is some helpful information that you will need to know.

Your child will need the following for the upcoming school year.

    • A backpack
    • 3 black/white wide ruled composition journals
    • 2 two pocket folders (pockets on the bottom)
    • 1 half-inch or one-inch binder
    • 2 packs of 4 small glue sticks (purple)
    • 1 4oz bottle of glue
    • 2 packs of 24 count or larger Crayola crayons
    • 1 box of colored pencils – 12 count
    • 2 packs of thick Crayola markers: classic colors
    • 2 pink beveled erasers
    • 1 highlighter
    • 4 thick dry erase markers – black only, low odor
    • Child size headphones (no earbuds)
    • 3 packages of baby wipes
    • 1 large box of tissues
    • 1 box of small sandwich bags, 1 box of large freezer bags
    • 1 small supply box

Please be sure to label all items with your child’s name.

Among the supplies, I will be designating one of your child’s notebooks as their “communication journal”. The communication journal is used as a way to share any information. The journal is written in almost every day. It is used to highlight a wonderful event in your child’s day/night or can be used to alert each other about areas of concern. The journal will journey to and from school in your child’s backpack every day. This form of communication has proven very helpful in the success of the children. The teaching assistants and I may read/ write in the journal. This is used in addition to any phone calls or emails. Communication is the very most important tool to ensure a positive experience for the children.

    Snack/ Lunch

Will have snack each day. Please pack a healthy nut free snack and drink and alert me to any food allergies your child might have. First Grade students may begin to purchase lunch from the cafeteria on September 4th. Please be sure to send in a check to replenish your child’s lunch account. If you wish to pay via credit card, visit the My School Bucks website.

    Open House/ Meet the Teachers

The First Grade Meet the Teachers night is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th at 7:00PM

    Mrs. Regulbuto’s Open House – 6:00-6:45PM

Please come and learn about your child’s day at Primrose. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents, ask questions and learn all about what we do in first grade. Please note, Mrs. Regulbuto’s specialized Open House presentation will be at 6:00PM to ensure all families will be able to attend the First Grade presentation with administration and general education teachers.

It is going to be wonderful year! I look forward to working with both you and your child!
