Welcome to fifth grade! My name is Mrs. Carvo and I will be your teacher this year. I am happy to hear that you will be in my class, and I am looking forward to meeting you.
I hope you have enjoyed your summer. I certainly have. My family spent some time in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. We went in the ocean every day and enjoyed the sunshine. I spent a lot of time playing with my dogs, Champ and Ruby, and I’ve read a few novels this summer too. I’m sure you have spent some time reading as well. Right??? Don’t worry, it’s not too late!
Soon we will have to start thinking about school again. During the first week we will get to know each other, and I will go over all the classroom routines and expectations. I will also spend time reading with you to get to see your strengths and talk to you about the books you read over the summer. We will start the year off writing narratives, investigating hands on science experiments, and reviewing math concepts from fourth grade. We will ease into the fifth-grade routine. If you’re wondering about homework don’t worry, I won’t give you any on the first day.
I will be in the classroom at the end of August. You can come in and visit, look for your desk, and drop off some of your supplies. Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. I look forward to meeting you and starting a new year of learning together!
See you soon,
