• Purpose: The Task Force will analyze a variety of information and prepare recommendations to improve SCSD school safety.  

    Roles and Responsibilities:  The Task Force will gain a current understanding of school safety in SCSD, discover best practices in school safety from safety experts, and review school safety research.  The Task Force will provide recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Education in September of 2018 for consideration.

    Membership and Commitment:

    The task force will be comprised of the following:

    ·         Parents/community members with security background

    ·         Parents at large

    ·         Faculty, staff, and administration members from each school-based safety committee

    ·         District administration

    ·         Law enforcement

    ·         Somers High School students

    ·         Board of Education representative  

    The Task Force will meet over the summer of 2018.  The dates and times are as follows:

    • July 19th 8:00-9:30 AM
    • July 26th 8:00-9:30 AM
    • August 1st 8:00-9:30 AM (New date) 
    • August 8th 8:00-9:30 AM
    • August 15th  - tentative Safety & Security Information Session 7 pm, SMS Auditorium
    • September 6th 8:00-9:30 AM
