  • New Year, New Supplies, Same Great Kids

The 2019-2020 school year is off to a great start in Somers Schools. Quite a few new teachers and support staff have joined the district, and you’ll notice some new faces in the main offices at all four buildings. We welcome all new faculty, staff and students to Team Tusker!

  • Watch live SHS events on your phone

Can’t make the varsity girls volleyball game in the Somers High School gym? Out of town for the boys junior varsity soccer game on Turf 1? All the action is now available, live on your phone, tablet or computer. The district is using the streaming service LocalLive to show games and events at the high school on Turf 1, in the main gym, and in the auditorium. High definition cameras with microphones have been installed in each location and are controlled by a remote technician.

  • Community Lunch in Session

The new rotating block schedule is in place at Somers High School, including the implementation of the Community Lunch, a lunch period for everyone at the same time. During the first few days of school, students discovered the new seating areas, learned how to use the app to order food in advance, and found fun activities after they ate, including playing basketball, making music together, and getting extra help from teachers.

  • Step onto the Sensory Pathways

As you walk through the hallways at Primrose Elementary School you will see the newly installed Sensory Pathways in each wing of the school. The pathways were funded by the Primrose Parent Teacher Association and Special Education Parent Teacher Association and will allow the students to take mini breaks during the day while working on their motor skills. The kids are having so much fun trying their hands (and feet) at the new challenges.
